The Development Committee is a joint church and school board comprised of a number of parishioners who are employed in, or have special knowledge of, various business and financial enterprises. The purpose of the committee is to provide for the long-term stability and growth of the parish through developing methods of communication with parishioners and school alumni, and by cultivating larger donations from parishioners, alumni, business, and other constituencies. These donations can take the form of gifts such as endowments, wills, corporate matching funds, and grants. For more information contact by e-mail Robert Clark or call (510) 471-2609.

The Parish Festival is both the largest fund-raising event and social event of the year. It takes place on the first weekend of October, to coincide with Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on October 7, 2000. There are three main ways to work on the Festival: 1) work in one of the many booths; 2) serve as the chairperson of one of the booths, in overseeing the operation of a booth; and 3) being a member of the Festival Executive Board, making major decisions concerning the Festival. For more information contact by e-mail Robert Clark or call (510) 471-2609.

Members of the Finance Committee form an annual budget, review parish finances on a monthly basis, and make financial decisions. To maintain members' interest, the work is balanced with social events, refreshments, and conversation. Experience with finance or bookkeeping is helpful, but not necessary for new members. Call Martha Estrella, the Chair of the Finance Committee, for more information at (510) 471-2069.

Members of this committee make the flower arrangements used at weekend Masses (members do this task on a rotating schedule), as well as decorate the Church for the major celebrations of the year. For more information call Joan Linson at 471-0191.

The large size of the parish plant requires constant maintenance. As funds do not permit the parish to hire an on-staff person to do repairs, we value volunteer efforts in this area. So, if you have any knowledge or experience in any area of maintenance, from carpentry to plumbing, please e-mail Isidro Ulloa or call (510) 471-2609.

Ministers to the Sick serve as representatives of the parish in bringing the Eucharist to, praying with, and visiting, the sick and shut-ins of our community. Our ministers normally bring the Eucharist to homes about once each week, however, the frequency of the visits are decided upon by the particular minister, the patient, and the care giver. Ministers form a close personal relationship with the people that they visit, which makes this ministry particularly rewarding. Training sessions and days of recollection are offered to provide an opportunity for the ministers to learn and grow. For more information contact Betty Heffernan at (510) 471-1476.

Ministry to the Sick

The Parish Office is a busy place requiring the coordinated efforts of a few employees and many volunteers. Volunteers are needed to answer the phone, enter data on the computer, and stuff envelopes from time to time. Volunteers usually work at the office in the evening. For more information contact by e-mail Robert Clark or call (510) 471-2609.

Office Work

The purpose of the Social Justice Committee is to make parishioners aware of injustices in our society and community as well as various societal issues, and, even in a small way, to work on solutions. For more information contact by e-mail Fr. Jose or call (510) 471-2609.
